Dinsho park

Dinsho park is a town in the Oromia region of Ethiopia that serves as the location for the headquarters and main entrance of the Bale Mountains National Park. The area is renowned for its diverse wildlife, stunning Afro-alpine landscapes, and rich biodiversity, having been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023.

Wildlife Viewing: The Dinsho area is an excellent location to easily spot several endemic mammals, including the Mountain Nyala, Menelik's bushbuck, and warthogs. It is also home to many endemic bird species like the white-cheeked turaco, yellow-fronted parrot, and Abyssinian catbird.

Park Headquarters: The BMNP headquarters in Dinsho offers essential services for visitors, including a reception office where entrance fees are paid and guides can be hired.

Hiking and Trekking: Dinsho is a popular starting point for various treks and day hikes into different areas of the park, ranging from short walks around the headquarters' juniper-hagenia forest trails to multi-day expeditions across the Sanetti Plateau and into the Harenna Forest.

Accommodation: While the main Dinsho Lodge may have limited availability, visitors can camp at the designated site at the headquarters, which offers simple facilities like toilets and showers. The nearby towns of Robe and Goba also provide hotel options.

Getting There: Dinsho is approximately 370-420 km from Addis Ababa and is accessible by private vehicle or public bus.

Activities: Popular activities include guided walks, horse trekking, and driving tours to explore the park's diverse landscapes and spot unique flora and fauna.
